DR. ELISSA BLAKE NOBLE

Dr. Elissa Noble is a licensed clinical psychologist in independent private practice since 2003.  Her style is collaborative, thoughtful, and caring, recognizing the importance of a strong and trusting relationship between client and therapist.  Her deep respect for her clients and their personal journey is the foundation upon which she aims to provide a safe and compassionate environment that allows the client to explore and confront life challenges.  Dr. Noble connects with her clients to help them recognize their inner strengths, manage and solve problems, and make healthy decisions toward a well-balanced life.  She helps clients make connections between important past experiences and current life events and identify recurrent patterns.  Dr. Noble utilizes scientific treatment approaches, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Gottman Method Couples Counseling which are proven to be effective and have lasting effects well after the treatment has ended. 

Dr. Noble encourages self-exploration and self-reflection, while guiding and challenging clients as needed to help them better understand what may be getting in the way of leading the life they want.  She welcomes the opportunity to meet with you to talk about your goals and needs.

Dr. Noble obtained her Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology from Oakland University in Rochester, MI with honors.  She holds a Master’s and a Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology/Chicago.  Dr. Noble was honored with the Illinois School of Professional Psychology/Chicago Outstanding Graduate Award upon graduating in 2002.  Dr. Noble completed her pre-doctoral internship at the University of Notre Dame Counseling Center where she received specialized training in eating disorders and performance enhancement/sport psychology.  She completed her postdoctoral fellowship at The Citadel (The Military College of South Carolina) Counseling Center where she also served as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychology.  After completing her postdoctoral fellowship at The Citadel Counseling Center, she continued working as a staff psychologist for one year before transitioning to full-time private practice and teaching. 

While completing her graduate studies, Dr. Noble obtained diagnostic and assessment training at the University of Illinois-Chicago, Department of Pediatrics.  She received advanced therapy training at Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center, Department of Psychiatry and Northwestern University Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS).  She served as the Federal Advocacy Coordinator (FAC) for the South Carolina Psychological Association (SCPA) helping to promote increased awareness of such mental health issues as mental health parity, advocate for those in need of mental health services, and serve as a liaison between national and state government agencies and the state psychological association.  Dr. Noble is a licensed psychologist in Illinois and a participating member of the American Psychological Association (APA).  She is also a professional member of Resolve, the national infertility association, and has received the Certificate of Completion for Perinatal Mood Disorders from Postpartum Support International

DR. SHANA NICHOLAS

Dr. Shana Nicholas is a licensed clinical psychologist in independent private practice since 2005. She approaches therapy from a collaborative and compassionate perspective, always honoring the courage it takes to acknowledge and share your pain and struggles.  Dr. Nicholas joins together with her clients to solve problems, confront conflicts, and make affirming choices that lead to a healthier lifestyle.  She helps clients see their inner strengths and abilities, and use them to navigate painful issues. Additionally, she assists clients in identifying maladaptive patterns that keep them stuck, and empowers them to learn new perspectives and strategies that move them forward toward a more balanced life.  Dr. Nicholas utilizes scientific treatment approaches including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Gottman Method Couples Counseling assuring that your treatment will be effective and efficient.  When appropriate, she integrates relational and insight-oriented approaches to promote awareness into how your history may influence recurrent patterns which keep you from living a meaningful life. 

Dr. Nicholas’ style is compassionate and empowering, yet always sincere. She provides support and space in therapy when clients need to explore their thoughts and feelings about difficult situations. She holds a Master’s and a Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology/Chicago (1999).  Dr. Nicholas completed her pre-doctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at Northwestern University Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), where she received specialized training in treating eating disorders and working with student-athletes.  After completing her postdoctoral fellowship at Northwestern CAPS, she continued working as a staff psychologist for two more years before transitioning full-time to private practice. 

While completing her graduate studies, Dr. Nicholas obtained assessment training at the Federal Bureau of Prisons: Metropolitan Correctional Center.  She received advanced therapy training at Cook County Hospital’s Fantus Outpatient Clinic and University of Illinois at Chicago Counseling Center.  She also worked as a mental health counselor at Chicago Lakeshore Hospital. She is a licensed psychologist in Illinois and a participating member of American Psychological Association (APA). She is also a professional member of Resolve, the national infertility association, and has received the Certificate of Completion for Perinatal Mood Disorders from Postpartum Support International
